Late Summer Wedding at Rule of Thirds

When L+J came to me for their wedding flowers I got that feeling that every designer gets when their ideal client walks through the door. A local neighborhood couple who wanted to support local small businesses every step of the way. Not only did L+J “get it” when it comes to seasonality, they planned a day that reflected their personalities every step of the way: ceremony at Brooklyn Brewery, tattoos by M4.ink, intentional invitations by Freckle Studio and the coolest cake by Saint Street Cakes and of course, no day goes by that I’m not grateful for clients who work with talented planners like Marian Frances Events.

Their first idea was for hanging disco balls to go over the dance floor – yeah, you heard that right, disco balls hanging from the beautiful skylight where most folks have their ceremonies. Disco ball + flowers? Say less.

L + J really understood that we focus on local flowers during summer while also inviting in tropical elements which created a stylish mix of flowers that screamed “I’m here to party”.

Rule of Thirds is THE trendy spot to get married in Brooklyn. The menu features asian fusion delights, the space is industrial while also being elevated and the team is ready to make your vision come to life. As a designer, I find the business to be extremely flexible to work with. Plus everything is served family style – check out this image by Lucie B Photo – a dinner party I can almost feel being at.

Anybody who knows me, knows I LOVE a layer cake. This stunner by Saint Street Cakes hit every color tone. I was able to place locally sourced dahlia on the cake topper. An important reminder to use pesticide free flowers to decorate edible foods – imported flowers can have toxic pesticides on them which can be harmful to inject. Local is healthy!

We repurposed the ceremony designs for the venue! Look how perfectly this paired! Also, anytime we can use flowers twice in a wedding, saves money and maximizes floral impact.

Also, who is a little jealous to have such a baller wedding party? This image is SO New York with the city bike zooming past:

This wedding represented everything I love about couples who get married. That they focus on the day they want to have, celebrating their authenticity and love through flowers, friends and community. I am endlessly grateful to work with people who value our artistry, trust us to fulfill a vision and want to support small businesses along their way.
