Lei Po’o (Hawaiian Flower Crown)Workshop

$125.00

Mindful & Sustainable Lei Po’o (flower crown) Making with Intention

June 8th from 2pm-4pm

Join us in welcome Gina to our shop for the second time! We first collaborated with Gina back in 2023 with a Lei Po’O workshop and learned the traditional design mechanics and meaning of what flower crown making is about through a traditional Hawaiian lens. Not only did we learn about how culture is carried through flowers in Hawaii but also how we can tap into our mindfulness while we create. This workshop is intended for a reflective afternoon in a beautiful flower shop where you can learn a new craft and appreciation for sustainable crafted florals. We hope you join us! This is a limited event with one session being offered! Learn more below about Gina and how this workshop will be featured.

Short Bio + Business of Eco Mindful Lei

Brief History: lei po’o making is deeply rooted Hawaiian tradition in making lei (garland) for the po’o (head).

It was practiced to honor relationships, give blessings, and share gifts

Aloha, my name is Gina Kananipua, I am a trained Marriage & Family Therapist, founder of Eco Mindful Lei and my belief is that Lei making is not a frivolous activity…it’s medicine. I live in beautiful Oahu, Hawai’i where I am an active steward of the ‘Āina (land), Sustainability Educator, and student in Halau Kahiwahiwa. It utilizes all of your senses therefore it’s a form of mindful stress reduction. I teach creative practices rooted in: environmental, social and economic sustainability.Teaching simple traditional acts of play & creativity are both healing in our modern lives.‘Āina/Earth based play enriches the mind, body, soul. It’s play therapy crossed with nature therapy. I love to empower others to create & mālama (care for) our community, our earth, and this place we call home.
